Depart for Agra, famous for its rich history and connection to the Mughal Empire. Agra, located on the banks of the Yamuna River, was the capital of the Mughal Empire from 1556 to 1658. The city was founded between 1501 and 1504 by Sikandar Lodi, the Sultan of Delhi, who made it his capital. The first Mughal emperor, Babur, sought refuge in Agra after his victory over Lodi in 1526. DAY 6 • AGRA - NEW DELHI
DAY 6 • AGRA - NEW DELHI

Today, you will have the opportunity to visit one of the Seven Wonders of the World, the Taj Mahal, India's most famous monument and an emblem of eternal love. This majestic mausoleum was commissioned by the Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan in 1631 in honor of his beloved wife Mumtaz Mahal, who passed away while giving birth to their fourteenth child in 1629. The construction of the Taj Mahal, which involved over 20,000 artisans, was not completed until 1653. The Taj Mahal is considered one of the most representative works of Mughal architecture. Its chief architect, Isa Khan, designed the complex on a rectangular plot measuring 508 by 304 meters, with a central garden surrounded by octagonal pavilions on all four sides. The mausoleum, made entirely of white marble, stands on a marble platform adorned with minarets at each corner, reaching 41 meters in height. The central structure is surrounded by four smaller domes encircling a larger dome in the center. Inside this two-story building, the remains of the emperor and his wife rest, symbolizing their eternal love. The Taj Mahal's decoration is equally impressive. Known as pietra dura, this technique of inlaying precious and semi-precious stones creates delicate details, such as floral arabesques and geometric motifs in low relief, making this monument a unique masterpiece in the world. After visiting the Taj Mahal, we will return to New Delhi. Upon arrival, transfer to the hotel, where you will have time to rest or explore the city. Overnight stay.
